About Us

A legacy of opportunity.

EST. 2009

In 2009, Good Shepherd College was established in the Batticaloa region of Sri Lanka. Our single-minded purpose is to afford an opportunity for children and youngsters from underprivileged families.

CORE VALUES

Education is not just about skills and facts, but also about basic values. Our foundation is built upon core values such as compassion, integrity, and service, all firmly rooted in Christian principles.

ACCESSIBILITY

We rely entirely on external funding, enabling us to keep tuition fees minimal and ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder access to education. In this way, we remain true to our commitment to assisting those who might otherwise be excluded.

Our Story

Education is the way out of poverty, but it isn't provided equally.

To provide a statement of the institution's purposes, goals and values.

Vision

To afford educational opportunities for the emerging generation of East Sri Lanka.

To organize our students to face future challenges with valor and intelligence and to afford academic education.

Mission

Our mission is to provide a challenging, purposeful education that helps every student reach their academic and personal potential.

We foster compassion, integrity, respect, and Christian principles such as kindness and justice, while celebrating diversity in an inclusive environment.

Through innovative teaching, mentorship, and community engagement, we support students to become caring, principled contributors to society.

Anton Sinnathamby

"It's a journey that we must learn to savour, cherish and treasure."

When I look back on the past 12 years, my heart is full of gratitude. This journey did not begin with a plan - it began with a burden. A burden that God placed deep in my heart.

It was a calling. A calling to start Good Shepherd College - a place where young people would not only learn, but grow in faith, discover their purpose, and shine as lights in this world.

The journey was not easy. There were challenges, struggles, and moments of uncertainty. But in every step, God was faithful. When there seemed to be no way, He made a way.

Today, this college stands as a living testimony of His grace.

My vision has always been clear - to see students grow strong in faith, firm in character, and prepared to make a difference in the world. We are not just building educated minds, but transformed lives.

And as you hear this, I want you to feel it - not just understand it. This is not just a school. This is a mission. A calling. A fire that continues to burn in the heart.

We believe that when we open schools, we close prisons. And through Christ-centered education, we are shaping a generation that will bring hope, light, and change to the world. With God's guidance, this is only the beginning.

For this reason, we provide scholarships and financial support to help children continue their studies in a safe, caring, and supportive environment.
